In Casablanca, the meeting between Abla, a widowed baker, and Samia, a young pregnant woman on the move, revolves around bread and everyday gestures. In this intimacy built around the kitchen, the film celebrates sisterhood, transmission and resistance to patriarchal norms.

Maryam Touzani (she)
Born in 1980, Maryam Touzani is a Moroccan director, screenwriter and actress. A film critic at the start of her career, Maryam Touzani soon wanted to express her vision in a different way and went behind the camera to direct two acclaimed short films: Quand ils dorment and Aya va à la plage. She then collaborated on Much Loved by Nabil Ayouch. In 2019, she directed her first feature film Adam, selected at the Cannes Film Festival in the Un Certain Regard section and shortlisted for the Oscars. She then reunited with Nabil Ayouch, with whom she co-wrote Razzia, in which she also stars, and Haut et Fort, selected in Competition at Cannes 2021. She returned as director with the highly acclaimed Le Bleu du Caftan (2022), presented at Un Certain Regard and shortlisted for the Oscars. She is currently working on her first novel and her next feature film.
