Les Kimchieuses tueuses invite you to put vegetables in jars together. This shared working moment will resonate with the traditional making of kimchi. During this time, we will engage in conversations around subjects such as economic necessity and political oppression.

The Kimchieuses tueuses workshops were born during the spring of 2024.
During a severe burnout, a healthcare professional fell in love with Korean historical series — probably because the feudal era under the Joseon dynasty (hangeul: 조선; hanja: 朝鮮 ) really reminded her of the political morass we are suffocating in.

During this workshop, given in collaboration with the 2025 edition of the festival, jars of vegetables will replace the traditional kimchi, but the process will be the same: coming together to design jars in order to criticise and build anew the notion of work and banish its oppressions.

Concrete work, resulting in a product with undeniable use value and high quality;
Work that is liberated, freely consented to, even desired, performed without the pressure of the need for economic survival;
Work that is under our own control, in which we have sovereignty over the conditions under which it is carried out, over the resources that we want to put in place, over the destination of the usufruct;
Political work, through the deliberation of the entire production process, because this workshop is a place where complicity is born, where individual and collective resistances against the oppressions we endure are fomented.

This moment will be a maquis bringing together professionals from the healthcare, social, art, ‘cultural’ sectors, and from various struggles. It is a little ‘already there’ trying to show what could be a socio-economic organisation that respects the common good and de facto equality.

The jars will then be sold, with profits going to a collective chosen at the time, depending on the urgency of the moment. Perhaps L’occupation du bonheur à Forest, or flavours for Palestine, or a collective of burned-out chicks, etc.

During a severe burnout, a healthcare professional fell in love with Korean historical series — probably because the feudal era under the Joseon dynasty (hangeul: 조선; hanja: 朝鮮 ) really reminded her of the political morass we are suffocating in. Kimchi is a fermented, spicy preparation made from cabbage and other vegetables, traditionally made in communities. It is rich in nutrients, supports the intestinal microbiota, contains numerous antioxidants and may help to combat heart and chronic diseases. The aforementioned tired woman invited friends who shared or had previously shared her condition to try having a kimchi workshop together. Il resulted in (perhaps a little too salty the first time) kimchi jars, other fermented preserves and gastro-political overtures, in other words a lacto-fermented weaving of implementations of political resolutions in the throes the Kimchieuses faced. This moment will be a maquis bringing together professionals from the healthcare, social, art, ‘cultural’ sectors, and from various struggles. It is a little ‘already there’ trying to show what could be a socio-economic organisation that respects the common good and de facto equality.
